About the Organization
Singer Bangladesh PLC is one of the country's most iconic consumer brands and a leading manufacturer and retailer of electronics and home appliances, with a heritage stretching back more than a century. Singer Bangladesh began in 1905, when Bangladesh was part of the British Raj, originally as a sewing-machine business, and by 1920 it had set up two shops in Dhaka and Chittagong, later expanding into consumer electronics. Its modern corporate form took shape later in the century; Singer Bangladesh Limited was incorporated as a private limited company on 4 September 1979 and was converted into a public limited company in 1983 by offering shares to the public, with its shares now traded on the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges, and over time it has become one of the country's leading manufacturers and retailers of electronics and home appliances.
A defining recent chapter was its acquisition by a global appliance leader. In 2019, Arçelik acquired Singer Bangladesh; Arçelik is the flagship consumer-durables company of the Turkish conglomerate Koç Holding, the only Turkish company represented on the Fortune 500 global list, and it owns 57% of Singer Bangladesh, with the remainder publicly traded on the DSE and CSE. The company has both market leadership and very large reach; founded in 1905 and headquartered in Dhaka, Singer Bangladesh holds top-two positions in major product groups and operates the largest retail distribution network in the Bangladesh appliance market.
Business Operations
Singer Bangladesh operates an integrated manufacturing, multi-brand retailing, and e-commerce business across the full range of household consumer durables. The company sells all categories of household consumer durables under the Singer, Beko, and multi-brand banners, supported by a huge retail network of 463 retail stores along with more than 1,000 dealer shops located all over the country, and it has built local manufacturing capabilities through its own plants. Its product portfolio is extensive, spanning refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, air conditioners, ovens, fans, freezers, kitchen appliances, water purifiers, and furniture, sold alongside partner brands such as Samsung and Hitachi.
The company has also positioned itself as a digital and service-led retailer. Singer is a pioneer in adopting a digital-first approach, and its e-commerce platform, singerbd.com, is one of the leading e-businesses in the country. Its retail presence operates under store formats such as Singer Plus, Singer Mega, and Singer Pro across all administrative divisions, complemented by customer-finance options including hire purchase and 0% EMI, exchange offers, and a nationwide after-sales service network, all increasingly backed by parent Arçelik's global R&D and supply-chain strength.
Affiliations With BUP Career Club
Singer Bangladesh has joined the BUP Career Club's flagship event as a participating organization for the BUP Career and Education Fest 2026. The partnership reflects a natural fit between the two organisations. The BUP Career Club works to bridge the corporate world and the university, helping fresh graduates reach their desired professions while equipping students with the skills to get ahead. As one of Bangladesh's most iconic consumer brands, now part of the global Arçelik–Koç Holding group and operator of the country's largest appliance retail network, Singer offers BUP students exposure to careers across retail and sales, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and e-commerce, while the company connects with a strong pool of business and professional graduates.
