Renata PLC, formerly Pfizer Laboratories (Bangladesh) Limited and also known as Renata Limited, is one of the top pharmaceutical manufacturers in Bangladesh by revenue, engaged in the manufacture and marketing of human pharmaceutical and animal-health products. Its origins lie with a global giant; the company was incorporated in Bangladesh in 1972 as Pfizer Laboratories (Bangladesh) Limited, was listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on 12 May 1979, and was renamed Renata Limited in 1993 after Pfizer divested its Bangladesh operations to local shareholders.
What sets Renata apart is its socially rooted ownership and its market standing. It has grown into a major industry player; Renata is the fourth-largest pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh, has led the market for animal-health products for more than two and a half decades, is listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, and has a market value exceeding USD 1 billion. The company is led by CEO and Managing Director Syed S Kaiser Kabir and is headquartered in Mirpur, Dhaka, and it is widely admired for its culture; Renata is known for its high-integrity culture, focus on continuous innovation and operational efficiency, and commitment to social responsibility.
Business Operations
Renata operates an integrated manufacturing, marketing, and distribution business across both human and animal health, with a notably broad portfolio. The main activities of the company and its subsidiaries are the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of pharmaceutical, animal-health, oncology-based, agro-based, poultry, and consumer products. Its manufacturing footprint is substantial and held to international standards; Renata operates 14 manufacturing facilities across three sites, holds approvals from the US FDA, UK MHRA, TGA Australia, and WHO, and exports to over 50 countries, including highly regulated markets in North America and Europe.
The company continues to grow and attract international backing. In May 2025, IFC committed a $58 million long-term loan to Renata PLC to support its working-capital needs and strengthen the country's pharmaceutical sector, reflecting both its scale and its role in a strategically important national industry. Renata also positions itself deliberately around talent development, describing a belief in growing future leaders with a positive attitude, a skilled mindset, and a practical understanding of the workplace.
