Apex Footwear Limited (AFL) is the pioneer of Bangladesh's modern footwear industry and the largest shoemaker in the region. It is the pioneer and leading manufacturer and exporter of quality leather footwear in Bangladesh, with exports to over 130 leading retailers in Europe, North America, and Japan. The scale of its position is striking: as the largest shoemaker in the subcontinent, Apex Footwear Limited holds a 15% share of Bangladesh's leather footwear export.
The company has deep roots and a long operating history. Since it began trading in January 1990, Apex Footwear Limited has been a major player within the Bangladeshi footwear industry, initially manufacturing footwear for some of Japan's largest retail shoe chains before expanding into men's and women's footwear for a number of markets. Its corporate identity was updated more recently: the company was formerly known as Apex Adelchi Footwear Limited and changed its name to Apex Footwear Limited in December 2013; it was incorporated in 1990 and is headquartered in Dhaka. It is a publicly held company, a public limited company whose shares have been traded on the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges since 1993, with a record that includes WRAP Gold certification in 2013, President's Export Awards for six years, and HSBC Exporter of the Year 2010. Today the business is a major employer; Apex employs more than 13,000 people and operates the largest footwear retail operations in Bangladesh.

Apex operates an integrated model spanning manufacturing, exporting, and retailing. Apex Footwear Limited is a Bangladesh-based manufacturer, exporter, and retailer of footwear, operating in export markets across Europe, North America, and Japan as well as in the domestic Bangladesh market, providing footwear styles, accessories, and lifestyle solutions through its in-house brands. Its design capability is a core strength: having both OEM and ODM capabilities, Apex can follow designs and specifications provided by a brand as well as develop new designs, creating two new collections each year for spring/summer and autumn/winter, supported by a dedicated 42,000-square-foot design laboratory and well-established links with leading component makers in Italy, China, and India.
Its brand portfolio is extensive and segmented by audience. The in-house brands include Apex, nino rossi, Venturini, Moochie, Sprint, Maverick, twinkler, Jatarea, SchoolSmart, and Dr. Mauch, where Apex is the men's shoes and accessories brand, nino rossi a ladies' footwear brand, Venturini a designed men's collection, and Moochie a women's premium shoes and bags brand. Domestically, this is supported by an unmatched retail network: with more than 250 own retail outlets, over 275 franchisees, and more than 150 distributors, Apex has the largest footwear retail operations in Bangladesh.
The company is also recognised for its workplace culture and skills development. Apex is widely acknowledged for its people-oriented culture and commitment to social responsibility, with leadership that prioritises transparent communication, mutual trust, and employee empowerment, and it runs comprehensive training and leadership development initiatives aimed at nurturing future managers from within, including through programmes such as the Skills for Employment Investment Program and the Centre of Excellence for Leather Skills Bangladesh.
